Rifle stolen from Armidale farm

Police are searching for a .22 Long Rifle, similar to that pictured,that was among items stolen from a shed during a break and enter.

Inspector Chris McKinnon said the gun was stolen along with tools, a generator and hot-water system.

The theft happened between Saturday, July 12 and July 18. Thieves unpicked the lock on the shed and took the goods from the propertyon Gwydir Road, Torryburn, about 50km west of Armidale.

Inspector McKinnon said the rifle was licensed.The incident was reported to police and is being investigated by officers attached to Guyra and Uralla police stations.

“The ownerwould probably have used the rifle to euthanase sick animals, for example, although that type of rifle mayalso be used in armed robberies,” Inspector McKinnonsaid.
